Because we care about your health and the health of those around you, Halifax Community Health System is proud to soon offer a healthy, healing environment that is tobacco-free .

Effective December 1, 2006 all Halifax Community Health System facilities in Port Orange will become tobacco-free. This means that Halifax Hospital Port Orange will open as a tobacco-free campus.

Effective January 1, 2007 Halifax Medical Center and all other Halifax Community Health System facilities, owned or leased, will also become tobacco-free campuses.


Tobacco use will be prohibited on the property, including building entrances, landscaped areas and parking areas.

Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco and pipe smoking. The tobacco-free policy applies to everyone including employees, volunteers, patients and visitors.

This includes Halifax Medical Center, Halifax Hospital Port Orange, The Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, Florida Health Care Plans, Volusia Health Network, Patient Billing & Financial Services, Healthy Communities, Halifax Dunn and Keech Health Centers, the Family Health and Sports Medicine Centers, along with all offices and other facilities.
